MEDITATIONS ON JESUS’ MIRACLE OF HEALINGS AND HIS POWER OVER SATAN
FIRST MEDI: JESUS POWER OVER SATAN:
“Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and Him alone shall you serve.'” Matt 4:10
“Get Behind Me Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.” Matt 16:23
SECOND MEDI: JESUS CAST OUT DEMONS AND UNCLEAN SPIRITS:
- Jesus Heals the Boy Possessed by a Demon: Jesus said to the boy’s father “If you can! Everything is possible to one who has faith.” Then the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe, help my unbelief!” Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and said to it, “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you: come out of him and never enter him again!” Shouting and throwing the boy into convulsions… Jesus healed the boy, and returned him to his father. Matt 17:14-20Mark 9:17; Luke 9:37-42
- Jesus Heals a Mute Demoniac: A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Him, and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. Matt 9:32-34
- Jesus Heals a Demoniac Who was Blind and Mute: He cured the mute person so that he could speak and see. Matt 12:22
- Luke 11:14-23
- Jesus Heals a Gerasene Demoniacs: The demons pleaded with him, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of swine. And he said to them, “Go then” The legion of devils came out and entered the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea where they drowned…The man from whom the demons had come out begged to remain with Him, but he sent him away, saying, “Return home and recount what God has done for you.” The man went off and proclaimed throughout the whole town what Jesus had done for him. Matt 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39
- Jesus Heals all who were ill and possessed by demons after sunset in Capernaum: They brought Him many who were possessed by demons, and he drove out the spirits by a word and cured all the sick, to fulfill what had been said by Isaiah the prophet: “He took away our infirmities and bore our disease.” Matt 8:16-17; Mark 1:32-34; Luke 4:40-41
- Jesus Drives out an Unclean Spirit from a Man in Capernaum: A man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, “Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. Mark 1:21-27; Luke 4:31-36
THIRD MEDI: JESUS RAISES HIMSELF AND OTHER FROM THE DEAD:
- Jesus Raises Jairus’ Daughter From the Dead: “Do no fear, only believe!”…Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Tal′itha cu′mi”; which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and walked; for she was twelve years old. Matt 9:18, 23-26; Mark 5:21-24, 35-43; Luke 8:40-42, 49-56
- Jesus Raises Lazarus After Being Dead for Four Days: Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.” John 11:1-45
- Jesus Raises the Only Child of a Widow in Nain: Jesus said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. Luke 7:12-17
- Jesus Rises from the Dead: The angel said to Mary Magdalene, whom Jesus cast out seven demons. “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for He has been raised just as He said.” Matt 28:1-1; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-8; John 20:1-18
FOURTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS ON THE SABBATH:
- Jesus Heals a Man with Withered Hand on the Sabbath: Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and it was restored.” Matt 12:9-14; Mark 3:1-6; Luke 6:6-11
- Jesus Heals a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years: Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your mat and walk.” Immediately the man became well, took up his mat, and walked. John: 5:1-18
- Jesus heals a woman who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years: She was bent over, completely incapable of standing erect. When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.” He laid his hands on her, and she at once stood up straight and glorified God. Luke 13:10-17
- Jesus Heals a Man Suffering from Dropsy: Jesus took the man, and after He had healed him, dismissed him. Luke: 14:1-6
FIFTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS AND FEEDS THE MULTITUDES:
- Feeding the 5,000: His heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick. With the two fish and five loaves, he feed about five thousand men, not counting women and children, and there were twelve wicker baskets full of left over fragments. Matt 14:13-19; Mark 6:35-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-15
- The feeding the 4,000 and Healing of Many People: Great crowds came to him, having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute, and the many others. They placed them at His feet, and he cured them. With seven loaves of bread and a few fish, he fed four thousand men, not counting women and children. They all ate and were satisfied. They picked up seven baskets full of left over fragments. Matt 15:29-39; Mark 8:1-10
- Jesus Ministered to a Great Multitude: A great crowd came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured. Luke 6:17-18
SIXTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS PEOPLE FROM AFAR, WHO WERE INTERCEDED BY OTHERS:
- Jesus Heals a Gentile Canaanite Woman’s Daughter: The women begged: “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” “Lord, help me!” He said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children* and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters. ”Then Jesus said to her in reply, “O woman, great is your faith!* Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour. Matt 15:21-35; Mark 7:24-30
- Jesus Heals the Centurion’s Paralyzed Servant: Jesus said to the centurion “Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith” … “You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.” And at that very hour his servant was healed. Matt 8:5-13; Luke 7:1-10
- Jesus, while in Galilee, Heals a Royal Official’s son who was laying sick in Capernaum: The royal official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “You may go; your son will live.” The man believed what Jesus said to him and left… the fever left the boy at the same time Jesus said to the farther, “Your son will live.” John 4:46-53
SEVENTH MEDI: JESUS HEALES PEOPLE WHO HAVE TOUCHED HIS CLOAK :
- Jesus Heals the Woman Suffering Twelve Year of Hemorrhage: She said to herself, “if only I can touch His cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured. Matt 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:42-48
- Jesus Heals People at Gennesaret: People brought to Him all those who were sick and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on His cloak and as many as touched it were healed. Matt 14:34-36; Mark 6:53-56
- Jesus Heals Those Who Touch Him: Everyone in the crowd sought to touch Him because power came forth from Him and healed them all. Luke 6:19
EIGHTH MEDI: JESUS RESTORES PETER’S MOTHER-IN-LAW:
Jesus entered the house of Peter, and saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and waited on him. Matt 8:14-15; Mark 1:29-31; Luke 4:38-39
NINTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS A PARALYTIC WHO WAS LOWERED DOWN FROM THE ROOF:
- People brought to Him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Courage, Child, your sins are forgiven.” … “I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home.” Matt 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 5:17-26
TENTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS DEAF AND MUTE MAN:
- Jesus put His fingers into his ears, and after spitting, He touched his tongue with the saliva; and looking up to heaven with a deep sigh, He *said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” And his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was removed, and he began speaking plainly. Mark 7:31-37
ELEVENTH MEDI: JESUS HEALS THE LEPERS:
A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said, “if you wish, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out His hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean.” His leprosy was cleansed immediately, and he was made clean. Matt 8:1-4; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 5:12-14
TWELFTH MEDI: JESUS RESTORES SIGHTS TO THE BLINDS:
- The Healing of Two Blind Men: Two blind men followed Jesus crying out, “Son of David, have pity on us!”… Moved with pity, Jesus touched their eyes and said, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.” And their eyes were opened. Matt 9:29-34
- Jesus Heals the Blind Beggar, Named Bartimaeus: The man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” … Jesus replied, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” Mark 10:46-52; Luke 18:35-43
- Jesus Heals the Man Born Blind: Jesus spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, “Go wash in the Pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed, and came back able to see. John 9:1-11
- Jesus Heals the Blind Man of Bethsaida: They brought to him a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. .. Putting spittle on his eyes Jesus laid His hands on him and asked, “Do you see anything?” Looking up he replied, “I see people looking like trees and walking.” Then Jesus laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly. Mark 8:22-26
THIRDTEENTH MEDI: JESUS RESTORES CUT-OFF EAR OF THE HIGH PRIEST’S SERVANT:
One of the disciples struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. But Jesus said in reply, “Stop, no more of this!” Then he touched the servant’s ear and healed him. Luke 22:50-51
